Australia & Ashes 2017 - 2018 - Day 56 - 17th January

Day 56

Another day out with Cerys, this time we were going to meet Bridget and Nigel for lunch in Double Bay, so our route began the same as yesterday except that when we got to Circular Quay we were to get a second ferry to Double Bay.  Unfortunately, in my haste, I got us on the wrong ferry and we ended up in Rose Bay.  There was no ferry service available between Rose Bay and Double Bay, so we got a taxi instead.

Waiting patiently for the Ferry
Here it comes

It was a very rough crossing but that made it all the more interesting.

At Double bay we had a walk along the small beach before heading up to their hotel, The Inter-Continental.

After a little walk we found the Hotel.  We were earlier than anticipated but we went inside anyway.

.

I sat Cerys down and got us some drinks in the Stillery bar of the hotel. I then rang Nigel and he came down to meet us.

He took us up to the roof top bar where Bridget was sun bathing alongside the swimming pool. We had a few more drinks here sat around the open-air bar and Cerys sat dangling her feet in the water. It was such a pity, if I had known about this I would have brought Cerys’s swimmers, she so wanted to swim in the pool. Maybe next time.

I have to say the view of the harbour from up here was amazing.

Bridget and Nigel then went to get ready and Cerys and I waited in the hotel lobby for them.  When they came down we got a taxi back to Rose Bay, so we could dine at Catalina, my favourite restaurant in Sydney.

The meal was amazing, and Cerys behaved impeccably while demolishing a bowl of pasta in a delicious tomato sauce. It was[i] served with a bowl of grated parmesan by the side and when the waiter collected her plate he noticed her eating the Parmesan with a spoon, so he told her he would leave it with her, so she could have some more.  She then proceeded to eat the lot and sent back an empty bowl!!

I had persuaded Nigel to try their oyster in a lime and chili dressing with flying fish caviar.  He agreed that they were the best he had ever tasted.

After the meal, we said our goodbyes and went our separate ways, they on foot around the headland and we on a ferry back to Circular Quay.

A great day out. Now home to pack, tomorrow I am off to the Gold Coast.
