Australia & Ashes 2017 - 2018 - Day 40 - 1st December

Day 40

Busy day ahead so after breakfast we headed off to West Head viewing point so Richard could see the magnificent views over to Palm Beach.  But first we went to Akuna Bay.

Akuna is the Aboriginal reference for ‘flowing water’, which is fitting to the Cowan and Hawkesbury River systems which combine in this idyllic location. Situated approximately a 20 minute drive from French's Forest, secluded beaches and protected bays make it an ideal place to drop anchor for a quiet afternoon or an overnight stay.
With open water just 20 minutes from the marina, available on-site are 190 marina berths, dry boat storage for vessels up to 24 ft, jet ski storage, a boat ramp and a range of marine related services.

We left dreaming of owning a boat and berthing it here, ready to set sail out into the ocean at the drop of a hat.  Next stop was to be West Head look out.

This is still my favourite viewing point. I have yet to see anything better. It offers breathtaking views across Pittwater, Broken Bay, the Barrenjoey Headland, Palm Beach and the Central Coast. Known as one of the best lookouts in Sydney, the panoramic views witnessed here leave a long-lasting impression.

Then, feeling hungry we went to the Belrose Hotel for lunch. First class service and terrific food. I will definitely be going back there for another meal before this holiday is over.

After lunch we returned home to get ready to go over to Paramatta to see some Big Bash cricket in the Olympic Village. Sydney Thunder were playing host to Hobart Hurricanes at the Spotless Stadium.

In a fantastic match to watch the visitors just edged out the thunder.

After a very long day we queued about an hour to get out of the car park and were really glad to get home eventually.
