Australia & Ashes 2017 - 2018 - Day 33 - 25th December

Day 33

It's Christmas Day

We had been invited to spend Christmas day with Kylie and Mike, friends of Amy and Alfie, who live in Manly Vale with their young children James and Hattie.  Kylie's mum would also be there, having flown in from Hobart.

We were taking the turkey so we cooked it here at home before packing the car with stuff prior to our heading off.

Cerys too.

We then set off for Manly Vale and arrived to find preparations well under way for lunch so we chatted and opened a few bottles of Champagne and generally began to have a good time.  The kids all played well together and the adults gathered, where else but around the food prep areas.

Then it was time to talke our seats for lunch and a sumptuous one it was as well.  Kylie, who is a vegetarian had cooked a ham for the first time in her life and it was truly delicious.  Alfie's prawns went down a storm too and as usual we all ate and drank too much!

The happy gathering
After lunch it was time for the children to unwrap the gifts that had been exchanged.  There was much noise and a bit of clearing up to do once that was completed.

After this we moved outside into the sunshine, but under shade to carry on drinking and listening to a Christmas playlist which morphed into everybody's favourite tracks.

While this was going on the kids were playing in the Jacuzzi tub or fighting with Kylie in the trampoline enclosure.  It was very hot and I could not help thinking that Christmas felt odd in Australia.

All to soon it was time to leave after a wonderful day, thank you Mike and Kylie.

New adventures and an early start tomorrow beckoned because Mike, Alfie and I were flying to Melbourne at 6.00am for the Boxing day test match.  More of that later
