Australia 2017 - Day 22 - 16th March

Day 22

Awoke to more rain but was determined not to let it spoil my day so I decided to go to Manly. I got a call from Thomas later saying that he and Jan were going to Manly today on the ferry, with their friends Sue and Mike from Perth, so I said I would meet them there.

I went in on the bus and when I got there it was still raining but I walked to the ferry terminal and met them as they came out of the wharf. We walked down the main street towards Manly's Pacific beach but the rain gradually got worse so we ducked into the New Brighton Hotel to get out of the storm and to have a couple of drinks.

Heading for the New Brighton

We killed an hour or so in here chatting, drinking  and watching the weather through the big open windows while Thomas tried the Ales on tap.

The weather outside was atrocious
Later, when it eased a little we went for a walk along the beachfront but the conditions were not very good as the sea mist was coming in making visibility poor.

Still happy despite the conditions

There was a bit of Beach Volleyball going on.

The Australian Championship is to be held here soon

As the rain came down again we headed for the Bluewater restaurant for lunch.  An ideal location seated outside but under cover admiring the view while eating our lunch.

After a lovely lunch the others decided it was time to head back to the city so I decided to go with them on the Manly Ferry.  On the way across the weather got steadily worse and visibility was particularly bad especially as we entered Circular Quay.

South Head, not so misty

But as we approached the city......................

Where has the Tower gone?
After we left the ferry at Circular Quay we went our separate ways, they on the Darling Harbour ferry round to where they are staying and me on a train to Chatswood and eventually home.  We are to meet again tomorrow for a meal in the Sydney Tower restaurant.

I am looking forward to this tomorrow.
