Australia 2017 - Day 67 – 30th April

Day 67

After another good breakfast thanks to Nic, we said goodbye to Justin and Adam as they had to get to the airport.  Both were flying out on business, but to different destinations.  the rest of us then tidied the house and made ready to leave.  After a while we had a last look around the place and headed off.

It was our intention to take the kids to a play area but no sooner had we left than they were fast asleep.  We decided to head off towards home and see how far we could get before they woke up.  Our route took us through the town of Cessnock with its interesting architecture.

Cessnock is a city in the Hunter Region of New South Wales, Australia, about 32 miles by road west of Newcastle. It is the administrative centre of the Local Government Area of Cessnock and was named after an 1826 grant of land called Cessnock Estate, which was owned by John Campbell. The local area was once known as "The Coalfields", and it is the gateway city to the vineyards of the Hunter Valley, which includes Pokolbin, Mount View, Lovedale, Broke, Rothbury, and Branxton.

The transition to wine service centre from a once prosperous mining town has been a long and at times difficult process.  The town certainly has a bit of a feeling of the wild West about it.

By the time we got to the Freeway the children were still asleep so we kept on going and they did not wake until we reached Pymble where Adam and Nic live.  Not far from home we just carried on and onreturning home we just emptied the car and relaxed.  In fact I relaxed myself to sleep.
