Big adventure
day today with Cerys. We set of early and caught the bus into Manly. From there
we caught the fast ferry from Manly terminal and header towards Circular Quay
where, upon arrival we caught another ferry to Darling Harbour. This was one of
the smaller green ferries and it was surprisingly comfortable inside.
We had a few
stops on the way over and finally arrived in Darling Harbour. From here we
walked to the Wildlife Reserve which was the main reason for coming. It was a fascinating place, right in the
middle of Sydney and Cerys really liked it.
It contained a variety of animals, all of which are indigenous to
Australia and we saw many species, and even handled a snake.
The biggest hit
though was the giant crocodile which we got very close to via a glass dome
beneath the water in which we could pop our heads up and be right next to the
crocodile’s head with the glass separating and protecting us.
After we had finished
here we walked into the city through the new Wynyard walkway and caught a train in the direction of home.
We alighted at Chatswood and then caught a bus to French’s Forest. We got off the bus one stop early, so we could get a cheeky McDonald’s before walking the rest of the way home. The weather was so hot that we were really flagging so we had a frozen Fanta in McDonalds and it sure hit the spot
