Australia & Ashes 2017 - 2018 - Day 42 - 3rd January

Day 42

It was a miserable looking day today and I went out with Amy, Richard, Cerys and Dylan to Palm Beach, the place where Home and Away is filmed.  On the way we passed through a number of North Shore towns including my favourite, Newport.

Palm Beach is the home of fictional beach known as Summer Bay

When we got to Palm beach rain was threatening but we parked the car and started to walk around taking in the views and beaches.

First of all we were on the Pittwater side and we had a clear view over to West Head and the look out we had been on only a few days previous.

After a while we crossed over to the Pacific Ocean side and the wind was quite powerful over here.  We were walking towards the area used for filming and saw that some of it was fenced off because filming was actually in progress today.  We decided to get as close as we could to see what was going on.

Unfortunately it started to rain so we had to take cover.  After a while, with no sign of it getting any better we headed back to the car.  It was getting on now and we decided to go to the Terry Hills Tavern for lunch.

Not one of my favourite places, but it is a good place to go with kids and there is quite an extensive menu available. Unusually for me, I decided to go for Mexican food just as Amy and Richard had.  It was OK, but as usual over here, we ordered too much.

Then it was back to French’s Forest for a quiet evening with the fifth test tomorrow to look forward to.
