Sweden & Oresund Bridge - Day 2 - November 20th

Day 2

Sorry this post is a little late, there was no Wifi connection on the boat.

Having packed the car early, I went to Kevin's and picked him up with his luggage, all neatly packed by Christine.  I think we may have taken too many clothes, the boot is rammed with loads of cold weather clothes as well as what is packed in the cases.  Better to have too much, rather than too little though!

Having not had breakfast before we left we were soon feeling the pangs so we stopped for breakfast at the Strensham services intending to have a McDonalds but when we saw the revamped services we had a full English cooked fresh. This was a Road Chef services and I can honestly say it was the best motorway service meal we have had in the UK. Not expensive and all prepared fresh after we had placed our order.

Well fed we then travelled on without stopping to the Tyne Ferry Port in Newcastle, arriving just five minutes before boarding opened.  We were at the front of the queue and it did not take long to pass through check in and security before we were driving on to what was a very large DFDS ferry.

When on board we made our way to our cabin.  Not very spacious but it was to prove very comfortable later on as we both had a great nights sleep.

Once we had settled in we had a scout around the ship and it was very well presented and had a great selection of bars and restaurants.  We stopped at the Navigator bar for a drink before returning to our cabin for a shower before deciding where to eat dinner.

We decided to eat in the Explorer steak restaurant situated on our floor.  We were not disappointed, the food was great although Kevin overdid it a little.  After saying how full he was he could not resist it and showed his breaking strain of a Crunchie when offered a desert of waffles, fruit, cream and ice cream.  He did well though. he did polish it off.

We stayed in the restaurant finishing our drinks before calling it a day. An earlyish night seemed a good idea as we had a long drive to Northern Germany ahead of us in the morning.
